The Identity Journey

Right or Wrong?
When our daughter was earning her master's degree, she took some classes in Professional Ethics. During the class, the professor introduced various situations in which the students needed to determine what was the most ethical or right action to take.
Most of us might think this would be an easy class, because there is a clear right decision and an obvious wrong decision.
But, in many of the situations presented, once a person argued their obvious reasons for the action they would take, another student in the class would bring up points or facts that could support the opposite decision. Throughout this course, the professor was trying to get the students to recognize that identifying right or wrong was not as obvious as we may initially think.
So, the question we are forced to ask is whether there is an objective right and wrong? Is right and wrong more of an individual decision based on the situation?
As we extend this discussion to include identity, is there really a right identity for a person or can each person select their own identity for each situation?
A quote commonly attributed to George Bernard Shaw communicates the world's perspective.
"Life isn't about finding yourself. It's about creating yourself."
The world's perspective is that there is no right identity for us to discover or live into. We are relegated to a life of constant trial and error in the process of creating our own identity. Never knowing when or if we have found the best one for us, or just settling for one that we think is good enough.
That sounds frustrating and futile and does not communicate the Biblical or God's perspective.
This month we are focusing on the central aspect of God's identity, that He is righteous.
There is an absolute and objective right found only in God Himself. As we know God, we can also know what is right, including the right identity for us.
Join us as we go counter to our current culture and state that God is righteous so I can be...
