When we led children's ministries, I learned the power of music in both teaching and learning. One of my favorite songs to sing with kids during this time of year was "Count Your Many Blessings." The simple chorus of this song challenges us to, "Count your many blessing. Name them one by one and see what God has done."
The attitude that this is trying to create is gratitude. Not just a general gratitude that the world defines as an appreciation and recognition of the various aspects of life, but recognizing that the source of all of our blessings is God.
Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers. Every good gift and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.
James 1:16-17
The warning of James is to not be deceived, because the world recognizes the benefits of being grateful, but they remove God as the focus of their gratitude.
During this time, we want to be reminded to be people that are grateful in all circumstances. God is good. If that is not enough to be grateful for, we can be grateful in all circumstances because we can know that He is making "all things work together for the good" of those who are following Him.
Whatever celebrations you may attend during this holiday, with family or friends, be people of gratitude to God for what He has done and is doing.
We also want to let you know that we are grateful for the opportunity to be on this journey of identity transformation with each of you. The process of becoming who He designed us to be was never meant to be done in isolation. This is why He adopted us into His family, to have brothers and sisters that join us in this journey.
Thank you for being part of what God is doing in this world and in His church through Redeeming Identity. We pray that you will enjoy your time remembering all His blessing and with family and friends.
Blessings,
Eric and Stephanie Moyer
